AIRFIELD 2029 ALL PROJECTS (AIP / AUI / CIRCUITS / FOD) CombinedThe contract includes a comprehensive suite of airfield infrastructure upgrades at the Port of Seattle, focusing on critical safety and operational improvements. Key elements involve replacing aging airfield lighting circuits with low megger readings with modern LED fixtures and signage to enhance visibility and energy efficiency, while also upgrading failing pavement sections and essential utilities to ensure structural integrity and long-term reliability. Wildlife hazard mitigation is a major component, requiring the removal of turf edge dams along runways and taxiways, installation of anti-perching devices on airfield signs to deter birds, and comprehensive stormwater management through regrading and new drainage infrastructure to eliminate ponding that attracts wildlife. Additionally, failing flush fire hydrant access hatches will be replaced to ensure rapid, unobstructed access for emergency response teams. All work is part of a larger, coordinated initiative under the Airfield 2029 All Projects program, aimed at modernizing the airport’s ground infrastructure to meet operational and safety standards. The project is managed by the Aviation Project Management Group within the Port of Seattle, with Yanet Maldonado serving as the primary point of contact. Though the solicitation is currently posted as a forecast, the scope indicates a significant investment in airfield resilience, combining electrical, civil, environmental, and emergency response improvements in a single integrated effort to support the long-term functionality and safety of the airfield.

The contract involves the refurbishment of infrastructure at Aspen Beach Provincial Park to enhance functionality and accessibility, with work spanning culvert maintenance, bicycle rack replacement, barrier-free picnic area upgrades, landscaping, and gazebo improvements. Culvert work includes removing grates and debris from ten culverts, clearing ditches, and applying high-visibility traffic-grade paint on asphalt around heaved culverts to simulate speed bumps. Three existing bike racks and their concrete footings will be removed and replaced with three new CANAAN model CAH-706 bicycle racks in Pearl Green or an approved equivalent, installed on newly poured concrete pilings. The barrier-free picnic area requires replacing four 2x6 pressure-treated tabletops with extended versions to ensure accessibility, installing four 26”x22” BBQ grates, relocating concrete parking curbs, placing 3/8” minus crushed limestone for accessible pathways, and mounting four 36” flexible delineators. Landscaping efforts involve removing dead bushes and planting fifty Beaked Willow trees in grassy areas near the beach, with exact locations to be finalized during the Kick-Off Meeting in October 2026. The gazebo will receive a 3” o/c square cedar lattice for shading and cedar cladding around all eight screw pile bases, while a picnic table west of the concession building will be removed. All work must be followed by complete site cleanup, with all debris removed offsite and not disposed of in park refuse containers.
