Four Seasons Streambank Restoration Project

East Hempfield Township, in collaboration with the Hempfield Rec Center and Four Seasons Golf Course, is advancing a streambank restoration and stabilization initiative along approximately 2,675 linear feet of the UNT to the Swarr Run, targeting erosion control and ecological enhancement on the properties. The project will implement bank grading, native vegetation establishment, minor channel realignments, and brush toe stabilization to reduce erosive forces and promote sediment deposition. Additional in-stream features, including cross vanes, will improve aquatic habitat conditions for fish and wildlife, while two newly constructed rain gardens along the floodplain edge will further mitigate runoff and enhance water quality. The work is designed to allow seasonal flood flows to access a low floodplain bench, creating a natural buffer that dissipates energy and supports long-term stream stability.
