This sole source contract, solicitation number F3QCCM205A001, was awarded by the Department of Defense Maintenance Contracting AFSC PZIM for the procurement of four Frequency Converter 400HZ Systems, specifically part numbers 80-17005-27D and 80-17083-9. The equipment is destined for the 579th Software Engineering Squadron at Robins AFB to support the fabrication of a tow-able jammer prototype test station. Unitron, LP was selected as the sole provider because they are the original equipment manufacturer, own the proprietary data, and are the only approved repair station for the PS-series product line. The selected systems are required to meet strict size constraints of less than 10 feet wide by 24 feet long by 7 feet high and specific power requirements, including a 115v single phase 60Hz input and a 115v 3 phase 400Hz 12amp output. These specifications are critical to handle the amperage load of the ALE-50 while maintaining lightweight deployable capabilities. The converters offer versatility for domestic and foreign use across back shop and flight line environments. The agreement includes a three-year warranty, a delivery timeline of 30 days after receipt of order, and compliance with EPA and USDA green procurement standards.

Full Description

This is a sole source, brand-name requirement to purchase four (4) each Frequency Converter 400HZ System, consisting of the following part numbers: 80-17005-27D and 80-17083-9. Unitron, LP is the OEM and has no authorized resellers and is the only approved repair station for the PS-series product line. Unitron, LP owns the proprietary data. This equipment is necessary to complete the requirements for the fabrication of a tow-able jammer prototype test station. The PS Programmable Power Supply operates from any standard worldwide power frequency, and provides 50, 60, or 400 Hz output power in various 1 and 3 configurations, depending on which field-replaceable programming plug is selected. Additionally, there was a size requirement of less than 10'W x 24'L x 7'H, and power requirement of a 115v single phase 60Hz input, with a 115v, 3 phase, 400Hz, 12amp output for the test stations these converters will be used in. Based on market research, Unitron is the only manufacture that meets both the size, and power requirements necessary to handle the amperage load of the ALE-50, as well as the ability to maintain its light weight deployable capabilities. Any other converter would not work due to having to increase the size of the external case, and possibly shift to using two cases increasing the cost exponentially. This converter is capable of functioning on multiple inputs, which gives it the adaptability for back shop/flight line, and foreign/domestic capabilities.
