The contract with the Department for Children and Families, Family Services Division in Vermont engages contractors statewide to provide transportation services for children and youth either in State custody or referred to the State for services. The primary responsibility under this contract is to transport these children and youth to various locations including supported family time sessions, family decision-making meetings, visitations, school, appointments, and other related activities. Transportation may originate from multiple points such as home, school, State placement, or agency offices, and can also include transporting individuals connected to the child's or youth’s case. In addition to transportation, the contract encompasses the provision of supported family time services, which aim to facilitate safe interactions between children/youth and their non-custodial parents during challenging family circumstances including substance abuse, sexual abuse, or mental health issues. Contractors providing these services are expected to offer guidance, modeling, and support during visits and must document observations and coaching within 30 days for State workers. They may also be required to provide testimony in court if called upon. Supported family time services are often delivered alongside transportation tasks, ensuring coordination between the safe contact environment and the logistical movement of children and involved parties. The contract solicitation was issued by the Vermont Department of Economic Development with deadlines in May 2026, and interested parties can contact the Division via a specified email address for further information.
