The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District is preparing to issue a solicitation for the procurement of specific brand name aquatic herbicides—Aquathol K, containing Endothall, and Clipper, containing Flumioxazin—intended for use at the Walter F. George and Seminole Sites. This procurement is being conducted under a sole-source justification as outlined in federal acquisition regulations, indicating that only these particular herbicides will meet the agency’s requirements. The notice serves as an announcement of intent rather than a request for bids and invites written responses with supporting documentation of any other available aquatic herbicides containing the same active ingredients by April 15, 2019. If no alternative options are presented, the Mobile District plans to proceed with a procurement solely for the specified brand name products. This approach aims to determine whether a competitive procurement process is warranted based on brand name or equal criteria. The contract is identified by solicitation number W91278-19-L-0025 and falls under the NAICS code 325320 for chemical manufacturing. The contract specialist for inquiries is Helene S. Mitchell, who can be contacted via email or phone. The office responsible for this procurement is located in Mobile, Alabama, within the Department of Defense, specifically the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District.
