Furnish, Deliver, Install Sod at ISC Ph. 3 Building 70603

Christopher Newport University is soliciting a qualified contractor to provide final grading and the furnishing and installation of sod at the new ISC Phase 3 Building 70603 site in Virginia. The scope of work includes establishing a smooth final grade free of debris and rocks larger than 3/4 inch to ensure proper surface drainage. The project requires the installation of approximately 70,000 square feet of overseeded Northbridge Bermudagrass sod, which must be overseeded with a three-way blend of perennial ryegrass and arrive green with the ryegrass established. Additionally, 1,000 square feet of Tall Fescue sod, consisting of a three-way blend with up to 20 percent Kentucky Bluegrass, is required for the courtyard area. All sod must be pest-free, have a minimum soil root medium thickness of 1/2 inch, and be installed within 24 hours of harvest. The estimated installation period is from mid-November 2025 to January 2026. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, with evaluation based on net prices. Bidders must provide detailed descriptive literature and specifications to avoid being deemed nonresponsive. The contractor is required to maintain comprehensive insurance, including Commercial General Liability of 1 million dollars per occurrence and 2 million dollars aggregate, and must certify that all personnel have undergone national criminal history background checks. Payment will be remitted within 30 days of invoice receipt. The university reserves the right to inspect products at the sod farm or contractor's place of business and will accept responsibility for the sod once it has been laid and rolled. Bids are due by November 20, 2026, and must be submitted via the eVA Internet e-procurement system.
