FY26-DDOT-IPMA-Eastern Avenue NE from Whittier Street to New Hampshire Avenue¿¿

The District of Columbia Department of Transportation is forecasting a project for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Eastern Avenue NE, spanning from Whittier Street NW to New Hampshire Avenue NE. The primary goal of this initiative is to enhance multi-modal safety and accessibility for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists. Key infrastructure improvements include filling sidewalk gaps, adding new bicycle lanes, reconstructing damaged retaining walls, and implementing drainage upgrades to mitigate flooding. The project further focuses on modernization and compliance through the installation of ADA-compliant ramps, updated signalization, new pavement markings, and a complete upgrade of street lighting with underground conduits. To improve the overall appearance and functionality of the corridor, the scope includes new streetscape elements, public realm enhancements, and the installation of new pavement and granite curbing. This work follows the completion of the design phase under contract DCKA-2017-T-0032.
