1. PURPOSE Charleston County School District ("CCSD" or the "District") invites qualified law firms and attorneys to submit Statements of Interest for consideration to serve as General Counsel to Charleston County School District, consistent with CCSD Board Policy BDG – General Counsel. The primary purpose of this Request for Information ("RFI") is to identify highly qualified attorneys and law firms possessing the experience, professional qualifications, capacity, judgment, and breadth of expertise necessary to serve as General Counsel to the Board of Trustees and District administration. Under Policy BDG, the Board of Trustees has authorized the creation and maintenance of the position of General Counsel. The District's retention of General Counsel is subject to approval by the Board of Trustees, and General Counsel represents and advises both the Board and District administration on legal matters involving the business of the District. In addition to identifying candidates for General Counsel, the District may use information obtained through this RFI to better understand the availability and capabilities of firms that could provide specialized or outside legal services when needed. This RFI is intended to promote transparency, broaden the District's awareness of available legal resources, and provide interested attorneys and firms an opportunity to present their qualifications for consideration.
