The National Institutes of Health, through the National Human Genome Research Institute’s Medical Genetics Branch, is seeking professional services to support the Global Exploration of Genomic Elements in Autoimmunity initiative, aimed at advancing understanding of autoimmune rheumatic diseases in understudied global populations. Guided by the Genomics of Autoimmune Rheumatic Disease Section, the effort focuses on establishing well-characterized participant cohorts by developing collaborations and engaging communities worldwide to study the interplay between clinical features, genomic variation, metabolomic factors, and environmental exposures in autoimmune conditions. This work is intended to enhance knowledge of disease risk, severity, and genetic contributors across diverse populations, ultimately improving global health outcomes through precision medicine approaches. The solicitation, identified as 75N98026Q00658, was posted on June 17, 2026, with responses due by June 27, 2026, and is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures as prescribed by FAR Subpart 13, with an anticipated value not exceeding $350,000. The place of performance is Bethesda, Maryland, and all respondents must hold an active SAM registration, provide a Unique Entity ID, Taxpayer Identification Number, certification of business size, and submit a technical proposal, cost-price proposal, proposed period of performance, and a capability statement to establish bona-fide qualifications. No set-aside provisions apply, and submissions must be sent electronically to the designated point of contact at NIH.

Full Description
- The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the nation’s leading medical research agency and the primary Federal agency responsible for conducting and supporting medical research that improves health and saves lives. The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) supports this mission by advancing genomics research to improve the understanding of human health and disease. NHGRI conducts and supports research that drives scientific and medical discoveries, develops new genomic technologies, and examines the role of genomics in society.
- Within NHGRI, the Medical Genetics Branch (MGB) studies the genetic causes of human disease, including inherited disorders of metabolism and human development. MGB investigators use advanced research methods to better understand disease processes and the biological factors that contribute to disease. The Genomics of Autoimmune Rheumatic Disease Section (GARDS), within MGB, studies the genetic, genomic, environmental, clinical, and metabolic factors that contribute to autoimmune diseases.
- GARDS seeks to better understand how clinical features, genomic variation, metabolomic factors, and environmental exposures are related in individuals with autoimmune conditions. To support this research, GARDS requires professional services to assist with the development of collaborations and community engagement activities necessary to establish well-characterized participant cohorts with autoimmune diseases in understudied global populations. Establishing these cohorts is necessary to improve understanding of disease risk, disease severity, and the genetic factors that contribute to autoimmune conditions across population
