The Global Network Enterprise Construct (GNEC) Update with Austere Challenge ’09 (AC09) Lessons Learned event, originally scheduled for August 13 at the Fort Bragg Officer's Club, has been postponed indefinitely. This conference, sponsored by the Army's Program Executive Office for Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS), was designed to present industry participants with insights from the AC09 Operational Evaluation Exercise. The exercise involved a simulated deployment showcasing the Army’s ability to transfer data and services into a virtual deployed environment, identifying various challenges in manpower, training, organizational structure, and technical aspects like data replication and bandwidth management. LTG Jeffrey Sorenson, CIO/G-6, was slated to lead the event, which would have featured briefings, equipment displays, and an optional tour of the Fixed Regional Hub Node (RHN) site. Registration had been open from July 20 to August 5 with a fee of $100, covering meals and materials, and required certain security clearances for tour participants. No charges have been processed for those who registered prior to the postponement, and updated details will be released via FedBizOps as they become available. Given the security protocols, attendees interested in the RHN tour were required to submit access requests through the DoD's JPAS system by August 10. The event was designed to accommodate limited attendance with restrictions on the number of participants per company. For registration issues or more information, points of contact included PEO EIS Public Affairs Officer Nancy Self, Communications Specialist Kathleen Watson, and Meetings and Events Manager Lillian Sakhleh. Further information and access links were intended to be provided through related documentation and official websites.
