The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) has awarded a sole-source Basic Ordering Agreement (N0001925G1000) to General Electric Aerospace (GEA) to provide comprehensive support for the CH-53K T408 engines and associated support equipment. This agreement covers a wide range of requirements, including program management, engineering, depot standup, logistics support, design, prototyping, and testing. The scope of work spans multiple program phases, including the Engineering Development Model, System Demonstration Test Article, Low-Rate Initial Production, Full-Rate Production, and Foreign Military Sales. Performance is primarily based in Lynn, Massachusetts, with the contracting office located in Patuxent River, Maryland. The acquisition was pursued on a sole-source basis under the statutory authority of 10 U.S.C. 3204(a)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, as GEA is the sole designer and manufacturer of the T408 engine. The government determined that GEA possesses unique proprietary technical data and institutional expertise, and that attempting to compete the requirement would result in substantial duplication of costs. The agreement is funded through Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation, Aircraft Procurement, Operations and Maintenance, and Foreign Military Sales appropriations. The authority to place orders under this BOA expires on September 30, 2030.
