H--Notice of Intent to Sole Source Award.

The Department of the Army's Mission Installation Contracting Command at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, intends to award a sole source contract to ThermoFisher Scientific for the provision of specialized Ion Chambers. These devices, designed to measure radiation within ranges from 0.1 to 1,000 R/h and 0.1 to 10,000 mR/h, will include integrated check sources and all necessary cables with connectors for use in the Gamma Radiation Facility. ThermoFisher Scientific is uniquely qualified to supply this equipment due to the specialized and costly nature of its design and acquisition, eliminating the need for additional research and development. The contract is being awarded under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, which allows sole source procurement when only one responsible source can fulfill the agency’s requirements. While this notice is not a solicitation or a request for quotations, any other responsible sources capable of meeting the requirement are invited to submit a capability statement by 11:00 am Mountain Time on September 27, 2010.
