The New York State Department of Health is awarding a contract to The Reach Project Inc. to expand access to medications for addiction treatment and opioid use disorder through low-threshold harm reduction services delivered via telemedicine. This initiative aims to serve individuals with opioid use disorder and those at risk of overdose across all counties in New York State. The contract, set to run from May 1, 2024, through April 30, 2026, was awarded as a single-source procurement due to the unique qualifications of The Reach Project Inc., making competitive bidding unfeasible. The project emphasizes telehealth-based harm reduction strategies to improve treatment accessibility and overdose prevention. The contract is valued between $500,000 and $2,000,000, reflecting its significant scope and importance in addressing the opioid crisis statewide. The Department of Health’s designated contact for this procurement is Ilene Kane, the Health Program Administrator I, who can be reached via email. The notice was posted on July 18, 2024, with a response deadline of July 25, 2024. This initiative underscores the state's commitment to innovative, accessible harm reduction services tailored to meet the needs of vulnerable populations across New York.
