The University, through the New York State Contract Reporter, has secured an exemption from the usual public advertising process for a sole-source procurement related to Harmonic hardware and software assets owned by CUNY TV. This equipment is critical for the operation of CUNY TV and NYC Media channels, serving as the primary system for playout, ingest, and storage. In the event of server failure, the affected channels would go off the air, making prompt technical support and maintenance essential. Harmonic, Inc. has been designated as the sole-source provider under the Standard Support Package, which includes technical support, server maintenance, and software updates to ensure continuous operation. The contract is set for a one-year term, ending on September 10, 2025, and covers all New York State counties, with a contract value estimated between $500,000 and $2,000,000. The procurement process was exempted from advertising in accordance with Section 144(2)(e) of the Economic Development Law, due to Harmonic, Inc. being the single-source award recipient. Any inquiries regarding this exemption or procurement should be directed to Adam Schwartz, the Purchasing Manager at CUNY, via email or phone. The solicitation was posted on September 3, 2025, with a response deadline of September 10, 2025. This contract underscores the importance of maintaining uninterrupted broadcast services for CUNY TV and NYC Media, ensuring technical support from the sole provider Harmonic, Inc.
