Haskell Canyon Bike Park

The Haskell Canyon Bike Park project involves the development of a comprehensive recreational facility across approximately 380 acres located in the northern portion of the City of Santa Clarita and unincorporated Los Angeles County. The primary scope includes the construction of approximately 15 miles of trails, featuring a mix of perimeter, climbing, downhill, and multi-use trails ranging from 4 to 6 feet in width. A central hub, known as the Haskell Core, will provide essential amenities such as a 40-space parking lot with ADA-compliant spaces, an event plaza with picnic tables, pump tracks for various skill levels, a dual slalom course, and a skills area. The project was formally approved following an Initial Study and Mitigated Negative Declaration adopted by the City Council in June 2025, which determined the development would not have significant environmental impacts. In addition to the bike park, the project includes the Haskell Canyon Open Space Shared Access Improvements Project, which serves as an addendum to the original environmental review. This component focuses on providing all-weather access to the bike park, the City Archery Range, and other regional facilities such as LADWP facilities and the Angeles National Forest. Improvements consist of installing four inches of asphalt concrete over an existing 1.4-mile unpaved main access drive from Copper Hill Drive, along with two 0.25-mile spur roads and two dip crossings over the Haskell Canyon Wash. All work must comply with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the California Building Code regarding seismic safety, and specific state protocols for the protection of cultural resources and human remains.
