The U.S. Army RDECOM Acquisition Center in Natick, Massachusetts, plans to award a sole source purchase order to Engineered Pressure Systems, Inc. for a High Pressure Pump Type AP01-0770-1116. The contract is a firm fixed price agreement valued at approximately $41,750. This pump is specifically required to be compatible with two existing high pressure processing units previously assembled by the same company. It is designed to achieve a target pressure of 100,000 psi within one minute using water as the pressure medium, which closely replicates the compression heating properties necessary for processing wet foods. The pump's reliable performance through repeated cycles and its compatibility with existing adapters, tubing, valves, and control systems are critical to the government's requirements. The government has determined that other than full and open competition is warranted due to the need for compatibility and reliability with the existing systems. This notice is not a solicitation for competitive proposals but invites comments within seven days of its publication, which will be considered solely to decide if competition is necessary. The contract falls under the NAICS code 541330. Questions regarding the procurement were to be directed to the designated contract specialist by a specified deadline. The procurement is managed through the Department of Defense office located in Natick, MA.

The U.S. Army RDECOM Acquisition Center, Natick, MA intends to award a Sole Source purchase order to Engineered Pressure Systems, Inc., 165 Ferry Road, Haverhill, MA 01835-8017, to purchase a High Pressure Pump Type AP01-0770-1116. The Government int ends to award a Firm Fixed Price purchase order with an estimated value of approximately $41,750.00. The rationale for other than full and open competition is that this particular high pressure pump will provide a compatible, reliable pumping system for t wo (2) 1 volume high pressure processing units assembled by Engineering Pressure Systems. This pump is capable of establishing target final pressure of 100,000 pounds/sq.in. (psi) in less than 1 minute in the existing high pressure processing vessel with yoke in closed position using water as the pressure fluid medium to enable similar compression heating properties as the wet foods being processed. Reliable operation with this fluid medium in repeated cycles is a prime consideration. In addition, this pump is compatible with the use of the high-pressure adapters with the existing high pressure tubing and valves as well as the control system for the existing unit. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all comments r eceived within seven days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the G overnment.
