The HM-4 Safety: Run-Off-Road Prevention Project, managed by Caltrans District 3, is a safety initiative focused on reducing run-off-road collisions on State Routes 89, 113, and 193 within El Dorado and Yolo Counties. The project scope involves targeted operational and pavement enhancements in Tahoma, Woodland, and South Lake Tahoe to improve driver awareness, pavement friction, and visibility. Key deliverables include the application of high-friction surface treatments, the installation of 6-inch or 12-inch rumble strips, and the construction of new crosswalks with associated warning signs. Additionally, the project requires upgrading existing signage with type XI sheeting and replacing wooden sign posts with metal ones.
