AI Contract Overview
The U.S. Air Force, through the 56th Contracting Squadron at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona, is conducting market research under solicitation number FA488726Q0028 to identify potential sources for an Immersive Force-on-Force Training System. This effort is structured as a Sources Sought notice, issued solely to gather industry input and assess capabilities, with no formal award anticipated at this stage. The system must deliver realistic, safe, and immediate feedback during simulated combat engagements and must consist of fully integrated components that function as a cohesive unit. Key required elements include 40 torso-worn sensory feedback vests with belt-worn power units providing at least eight hours of battery life and 360-degree side panel sensor expansion, 40 dual-mode blank-fire laser emitter conversion kits for M4/M16 rifles and pistols with visually distinct blue magazines, precision laser mounts, hand-held laser activators, a simulated gunshot audio device, a USB video recording system, a multi-port USB charging hub with at least 10 ports, and ruggedized transport cases. Non-toxic, lead-free blank ammunition in bulk quantities of approximately 1,000 rounds for 9mm and 900 rounds for 5.56mm is also specified. All components must be backed by an extended warranty covering parts, labor, and return shipping for two years beyond the manufacturer’s standard warranty, with the contractor responsible for return shipping costs while the government covers initial outbound logistics and any associated duties, taxes, or tariffs. The solicitation is a Total Small Business Set-Aside under FAR 19.5, classified under NAICS code 333310, and responses must include firm identification, CAGE code, business size certification, and specific small business program designations such as 8(a), HUBZone, or Service-Disabled Veteran Owned. Responses must be submitted electronically via email to the primary point of contact, Aniyah Jackson, no later than 1:00 p.m. EST on June 25, 2026, with Kristie Canterbury as the backup contact. It is explicitly noted that no government funds are currently available for this effort, and no award will be made until funding is appropriated. The government retains full discretion to cancel the solicitation at any time without obligation to reimburse respondents for any incurred costs. Technical compliance hinges on meeting all specified salient characteristics, which serve as mandatory pass/fail gates rather than weighted evaluation
