BACKGROUND The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) seeks commercial vendors that can update an existing set of gas cabinets in the Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology (CNST) NanoFab laboratories. The NanoFab is a shared resource accessible to researchers from industry, academia, NIST, and other government agencies that provides researchers with rapid access to state-of-the-art, commercial nanoscale measurement and fabrication tools and methods, along with associated technical expertise. It is well equipped to process and characterize a wide range of nanoscale materials, structures, and devices. Many of the NanoFab process tools require specialty gases to operate and those gases are served by a set of Matheson gas cabinets. The gas cabinets require an update to bring them up to date and add capability to communicate status, errors, and current values via IP/Ethernet. The NanoFab is seeking vendors capable of updating the existing cabinets internally with new gas panels and new control systems per the following requirements. All offerors shall provide a firm fixed price quotation for the following line items: LINE ITEM 0001: Refurbishment, in place, of 13 gas cabinets, meeting the requirements listed below(see attachment)

Building 215 Clean Room HEPA Filter Replacement
Solicitation # RFI-195000-26-00181
The National Institute of Standards and Technology is conducting market research through a Request for Information for the Building 215 Advanced Measurement Laboratory cleanroom repair and HEPA filter replacement project in Gaithersburg, Maryland. This initiative follows a previous solicitation that failed to produce an acceptable offer, prompting NIST to reassess its acquisition strategy and seek industry feedback on constructability, cost, and schedule feasibility. The project scope involves the modernization of an 1,800 square meter facility, including the replacement of approximately 1,200 HEPA filters, 70 VAV terminal units, and 54 airflow monitoring devices, as well as the installation of 32 exhaust air control valves and associated ductwork repairs, testing, and recertification. A critical component of the project is the proposed phasing plan, which aims to minimize research disruptions by utilizing 19 construction phases, including 18 critical cleanroom outage phases. Each critical outage is currently envisioned as a nine-day window starting Friday evening and requiring 24/7 operations to achieve ready-for-re-occupancy by the following Monday morning. NIST is specifically requesting rough-order-of-magnitude cost estimates and industry input on whether this aggressive outage schedule is realistic or if it creates prohibitive risks and costs. Responses, including company experience and recommendations for improving competition and project execution, are due by October 14, 2026.
