Indian Valley School Modernization

The Indian Valley School Modernization project, managed by the Walnut Creek School District, involves comprehensive facility upgrades at Indian Valley Elementary School located at 551 Marshall Drive, Walnut Creek, California. The scope of work includes the relocation of the library to the existing kindergarten building and the relocation of tiered support offices to the existing library building. Additionally, six classrooms will be reconfigured into two transitional kindergarten and two kindergarten classrooms. Interior renovations will cover the administration building with updates to painting, hardware, flooring, and lighting, while the multi-purpose room will receive a new HVAC system, flooring and lighting replacements, and the removal of the stage. Exterior improvements consist of the installation of an outdoor learning area, fabric shade structures, shaded seating, covered walkways, security fencing, and an accessibility ramp. Environmental site work includes the removal of up to 16 trees over 9 inches in diameter, subject to City of Walnut Creek permit criteria and nesting bird survey requirements. The project is scheduled for implementation in two phases, with interior modernizations occurring in the summer of 2026 and site work following in the summer of 2027. The project is classified under NAICS code 236220 and has been granted a Class 1 Categorical Exemption under CEQA Guidelines Section 15301.
