1.0 GENERAL


The Government requires a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) wearable personal safety light. The device must be a single, integrated unit that provides illumination for both conspicuity and task-related functions. The item must meet all of the minimum salient characteristics listed below.


2.0 MINIMUM SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS


The wearable personal safety light shall meet or exceed the following minimum technical specifications:


2.1 Illumination and Performance:


  • Must provide 360-degree lighting for omnidirectional visibility.

  • Must be visible from a distance of up to 5 miles in all directions.

  • Must include a forward-facing work light.

  • Must feature multiple user-selectable light color combinations, including but not limited to red, white, and blue, with up to 20 available color combinations.

  • Must include special emergency light modes, including SOS and a flashing red/blue pattern.

  • Must provide different brightness settings for the user to select.
