The Department of Revenue (“DOR”) is seeking one or more law firms from throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to handle various inheritance tax matters at the county level. This may include but would not be limited to: responding to filings and filing them by the appropriate deadline, negotiating settlement agreements with counsel; appearing in court on behalf of the Commonwealth; and litigating matters in court. Examples of issues that may arise include but are not limited to: disputes over valuation of real property; declarations of marriage and/or assertions of common law marriage; failure to file inheritance tax returns; failure to pay inheritance tax due; validity of wills; and distribution of assets and the resulting taxability.
