Inspection Services for Project to Blast Clean, Repair, and Paint the Miter Gates at Eisenhower Lock

The Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (SLSDC) plans to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) to provide inspection services and weld testing services for a project to blast clean, repair, paint the upstream and downstream miter gates at Eisenhower Lock in Massena, New York. An Invitation for Bids has been issued for the work to perform surface preparation by removing the existing coatings which contain lead and chromium, repair, and paint the miter gates between January and March 2014. The upstream miter gate is comprised of two (2) gate leaves each approximately 45 ft. wide by 45 ft. high, each having an approximate surface area of 13,000 sq. ft., and the downstream miter gate is comprised of two (2) gate leaves each approximately 45 ft. wide by 90 ft. high, each having an approximate surface area of 24,000 sq. ft. The SLSDC will award a contract to one (1) firm to provide continuous on-site quality assurance inspection and testing services for this project. The RFP will be released on or about October 18, 2013 and proposals will be due on or about November 12, 2013. The SLSDC will furnish the specifications and drawings in electronic format at the cost of $20.00 USD.
