Installation of No Parking signs on California State Route 1 near Bixby Bridge

Monterey County is planning to install temporary No Parking signs along California State Route 1 near Bixby Bridge, in the unincorporated area approximately 15 miles south of Carmel-by-the-Sea. The signs will be mounted on new posts along the roadway shoulder within the public right-of-way, spanning from about 700 feet south of the bridge to roughly 900 feet north of the bridge. This initiative is designed to enforce a permanent no-parking restriction on both sides of the road for a duration of one year, with the primary goal of reducing traffic congestion and ensuring clear, unobstructed passage for emergency vehicles. The measure aims to prevent or mitigate potential emergency situations by eliminating roadside vehicle obstruction in this high-traffic and geographically sensitive corridor. The project is being managed by the County of Monterey, with Senior Civil Engineer Jonathan Pascua serving as the primary point of contact for inquiries related to implementation and coordination.
