AI Contract Overview
This contract involves the procurement of a single gallon of insulating varnish, classified as a Type I item with a 12-month non-extendable shelf life. The varnish must meet specified technical and quality requirements as outlined in the applicable Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) master list, with packaging conforming to MIL-STD-2073-1E and markings per MIL-STD-129. The contract strictly prohibits the use of mercury or mercury-containing compounds in the product or its packaging, except for certain sanctioned applications. Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and hazard warning labels must be reviewed and approved by qualified personnel prior to contract award and subsequently retained in the contract file. Delivery is set for within five days, FOB destination, to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine, with specific instructions to ship via the fastest traceable means and to avoid parcel post. Sampling for quality assurance will follow military standards such as MIL-STD-1916 or equivalent, with zero tolerance for non-conformances unless otherwise specified. The contract emphasizes critical application status and includes unique government and packaging requirements to ensure product integrity and compliance with Department of Defense regulations. The point of contact for this contract is Kathleen Hipes from the DLA Maritime Supply Chain ESOC Buys office.
