AI Contract Overview
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) plans to engage in sole-source negotiations with 10X Genomics, Inc. for the procurement of the 10X Genomics 5' v2 Kit, a proprietary reagent set required to support the Early Detection of Lung Diseases (EDLI) project. This specialized kit is designed exclusively for the 10X Genomics Chromium platform, enabling advanced single-cell and multiomic analyses essential for high-resolution gene expression profiling and immune repertoire studies. These analyses are critical for identifying early biomarkers and understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying both infectious and noninfectious lung diseases, aligning with the project's goals to improve diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. The acquisition covers reagents, consumables, and necessary components optimized for the Chromium platform to ensure experimental consistency, data integrity, and reproducibility in ongoing and future research. The contract is being pursued under the statutory authority for sole-source procurement, citing that only one responsible source can meet these requirements. While this notice is not a request for proposal, other capable sources may submit capability statements by the stated deadline for government consideration. The decision to forego competition is at the NIH's discretion, and the contract is slated to be performed in Bethesda, Maryland, under the Department of Health and Human Services.
