NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. This is a notice of intent to solicit and award a sole source contract under statutory authority 41 U.S.C. 1901 (a) (1) as implemented by FAR 13.106-1 only one responsible source and no other supply of service will satisfy agency requirements. The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District intends to solicit and award a sole source contract for inspection/certification of four ring gauges and four plug gauges that were fabricated for the verification of two ACME thread sizes (6.5 - 1 and 6.5 -1.33) on new miter gate anchor bars to U.S. Gage Corp., 568 Inverness, Highland, MI 48357. The plug gauges will be certified using adjustable ring gauges to meet ISO 17025 standards and the ring gauges will be checked to meet UKAS standards. NAICS code applicable to this procurement is 334519 Other Measuring and Controlling Device Manufacturing. Specific characteristics of the inspection/certification services that limit the availability to a sole source is that it is the Government's belief that no other facility or technician can perform this verification process without actually fabricating a set of ring and plug gauges to inspect/certify USACE gauges, which is a cost prohibitive process. This notice satisfies the requirement at FAR 5.201(b)(1), to publicize the proposed contract action. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals or quotes. No solicitation documents are available; however, small business firm that believes it that they can meet the requirements may give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 14 days from the date of publication of this notice. Supporting evidence must be furnished in enough detail to demonstrate compliance. Information must be sent electronically to Roberta Just, Contract Specialist, at contact@example.gov. Any responses received will be evaluated; however, a determination by the Government as to whether to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Responses must be received within 14 days of publication or by October 22, 2021 at 17:00 to be considered.
