INTERIOR STAIR HANDRAILS AND RAILINGS REMEDIATION AND ASSOCIATED WORKS AT MIDDLETON WAY, PROJECT PL26-WP05

The Regional Municipality of Peel, on behalf of Peel Housing Corporation, is soliciting bids for project PL26-WP05, which involves the remediation of interior stair handrails and railings at Middleton Way. The scope of work includes the selective demolition of existing balusters, posts, and PVC handrail covers, followed by the installation of new steel Newell posts, baseplates, anchors, and support brackets to reinforce the railings. Additional requirements include refastening loose balusters and wall brackets, reinstating PVC handrail covers, and performing painting and finishing on all affected metal components and walls using SW1108 Fragile Beauty eggshell finish. The project also requires rough carpentry for wood blocking and supplemental framing to support the new steel components. This is a stipulated lump sum contract restricted to prequalified general contracting firms. Bidders must submit electronic bids by October 13, 2026, including a 50,000 dollar digital bid bond and an agreement to bond from a company with an A.M. Best rating of B+ or better. The successful contractor must provide performance and labour and material payment bonds for 50 percent of the total lump sum price, along with a WSIB clearance certificate and insurance documentation within seven days of the award. Substantial performance of the work must be achieved by February 12, 2026, with a final ready-for-takeover date of March 12, 2026, noting a mandatory site blackout period from December 18, 2026, to January 8, 2027. Payments will be processed monthly with a 10 percent statutory holdback in accordance with the Ontario Construction Act.
