Invasive Species Management For Shaded Fuel Break Maintenance (Memorial County Park & Sam McDonald County Park)

The County of San Mateo is soliciting bids for invasive species management to maintain shaded fuel breaks at Memorial County Park and Sam McDonald County Park in Loma Mar, California. The primary objective is to mitigate wildfire risk by maintaining low vegetative fuel volumes. The scope of work includes the manual, mechanical, and chemical treatment of approximately 17 acres of French broom and the removal and disposal of 0.25 acres of Bailey acacia. All chemical applications must be performed by qualified QAL/QAC staff in accordance with Department of Pesticide Regulation standards and County Pesticide Control Recommendations. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, with a procurement preference applied to local businesses and non-profits. Bidders must certify at least five years of similar experience and provide a California Department of Industrial Relations registration number. Performance is subject to strict environmental and safety constraints, including the use of spark arrestors on all internal combustion engines, adherence to state fire tool codes during high-danger periods, and restrictions on heavy equipment use between October 15 and June 15.
