Invitation to Tender Marina Bridge Rehabilitation

The Village of Port Alice is soliciting tenders for the Marina Bridge Rehabilitation project (Solicitation 2026-01) located on Marine Drive in Port Alice, British Columbia. The scope of work includes repairing bridge abutment fill slopes, installing precast concrete block wingwalls, replacing approach barriers and guardrails, and installing a new 15.24m aluminum truss pedestrian bridge. The project is governed by the 2019 Master Municipal Construction Documents and requires strict adherence to an Environmental Mitigation Plan and Water Sustainability Act requirements. Substantial performance of the work must be achieved by June 30, 2027. This is a unit price contract where the award is not necessarily granted to the lowest bidder, but to the tenderer that best suits the long-term objectives of the Village. Contractual obligations include providing a Performance Bond and a Labour and Material Payment Bond, each valued at 50% of the contract price, issued by a surety licensed in British Columbia. Technical requirements specify the use of Alloy 6061-T6 and 5083-H112 for the pedestrian bridge and a minimum concrete strength of 25 MPa for shipping and handling of precast elements. Quality control measures require the submission of concrete test results at least one week prior to the start of work and the implementation of an engineered lifting plan for any critical lifts.
