AI Contract Overview

The contract involves placing Fiscal Year 2012 orders under a Basic Ordering Agreement for the repair, modification, and servicing of various components that support key weapon systems such as the UYA-21, BQQ-5/6 sonar systems, Tartar missile system, and Sidewinder missile systems. Raytheon in Norfolk, VA, is the sole approved source for these repairs due to possessing the full repair capability and necessary technical data, which the government does not fully provide. Critical high-value repair items include components like the Sensor Assembly, Radio Frequency Filter, and Drive Antenna, all identified with specific part and national item identification numbers. Orders exceeding $25,000 will be individually synopsized per federal acquisition regulations, and all contract awards require government source approval because of the mission-critical nature of these items and the limited availability of repair technical data. The approval process for any new source is lengthy, making it impractical to delay award for alternative suppliers. The contract is managed by the Naval Inventory Control Point under the Department of Defense’s Navsup Weapon Systems Support Mechanical office, with further questions directed to an appointed government contact.
