The contract involves the procurement of three diesel engines for repair or modification, identified by NSN 7H-2815-015607730, with delivery terms set as FOB origin to Mack Boring & Parts Co. in Union, NJ. This is a sole-source acquisition, meaning the Government intends to negotiate and award the contract exclusively to one supplier without competition, pursuant to FAR 6.302-1. Although this notice is not a solicitation for competitive proposals, interested parties may express their interest, submit quotes, or provide capability statements, which the Government will consider when deciding whether to proceed with a competitive procurement. This approach is based on the lack of sufficient, accurate, or legible data to source the part from suppliers other than the current provider. The Government does not anticipate using commercial item acquisition policies under FAR Part 12 for this procurement and emphasizes that relevant regulatory documents and specifications can be accessed through the DoD Single Stock Point or the ASSIST online system. The solicitation, issued by the Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support in Mechanicsburg, PA, invites responses within 45 days (or 30 days if an award falls under a Basic Ordering Agreement), though no guarantee is made that a competitive process will be conducted. The overall objective is to ensure timely procurement from the incumbent source for specialized diesel engine repair or modification services, while remaining open to alternative sources who can demonstrate capability.
