AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the procurement of 12 fire extinguishers, specifically identified under NSN 7H-4210-012057898 and TDP version 003, to be issued to Pacific Scientific Co. in Miami, Florida. Delivery terms specify FOB origin, indicating that the buyer assumes responsibility once the goods leave the supplier. This action is a sole-source negotiation, meaning the government intends to negotiate exclusively with one supplier without a competitive bidding process. However, interested parties may express interest or submit quotes before the award date, which the government will consider in deciding whether to pursue competitive procurement. The government has determined that owning or acquiring data rights necessary to purchase this part from other sources is uneconomical, and reverse engineering the item is not a viable option. The contract is categorized under a presolicitation notice issued by the Department of Defense’s Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support office located in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. The contract’s title indicates it pertains to fire extinguisher repair or modification, suggesting ongoing maintenance or upgrade work rather than new manufacture. No set-aside or NAICS code is specified, and while competitive quotes are not initially solicited, the government remains open to information from other potential sources to inform their procurement strategy, but they reserve full discretion over the decision to compete.
