AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the supply and repair or modification of an inertial navigation system component, specifically identified by NSN 7R-6605-014444843-EX, with a quantity of 17 units to be delivered FOB origin to Northrop Grumman Guidance Co., Inc., in Woodland Hills, CA. The government is issuing a notice of intent to negotiate exclusively with the current approved source due to the critical nature and unstable design of this part. The part has shown marginal performance and low process yield, necessitating major design changes that will eventually obsolete the current configuration. Until these changes are implemented, limited acquisition from the approved source is expected to continue. The item is flight critical, and government source approval is required prior to contract award, thus restricting solicitations to previously government-approved vendors. Potential new sources interested in bidding must submit detailed technical data per NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support source approval brochures corresponding to their experience with similar items. Offers lacking complete source approval documentation will be excluded from consideration. The government retains discretion to proceed with a sole-source award if timely evaluation or approval of new sources is not feasible to meet operational demands. This procurement action is part of a presolicitation notice under solicitation number N0038312PG138, issued by the Department of Defense’s Navsup Weapon Systems Support office in Philadelphia, PA. It reflects a non-competitive negotiation intent due to the technical complexity and criticality of the item involved.
