The contract involves the procurement of two units of a specific part identified by NSN 7G-5895-015324027, version TDP 004, in accordance with reference number 506016466-1. Delivery terms are FOB origin, with the items to be issued to L-3 Communications Corporation located in Hauppauge, New York. This action is a notice of intent indicating the Government's plan to negotiate a sole-source contract, meaning it does not constitute a solicitation for competitive offers. While interested parties may express their interest and provide quotes before the award date, the Government reserves the right to proceed without a competitive process based on the responses received. The rationale for the sole-source approach centers on the Government's lack of ownership of the necessary data or rights to buy the part from other sources, and where acquiring those rights or reverse-engineering the part would be uneconomical. The procurement is related to a repair or modification requirement under solicitation number N0010414PDA86, posted by the Department of Defense’s Navsup Weapon Systems Support office in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. The notice clarifies that information gathered at this stage is primarily to inform the Government's decision about conducting a competitive acquisition.
