AI Contract Overview

The Supply Chain Management Group is utilizing other than full and open competition to award a sole source contract to Ametek Inc. for the remanufacture of seven F118-GE-100 Pyrometers used in B-2 aircraft. This urgent requirement is necessary because there are currently zero serviceable assets available, and a failure to obtain these repairs would disrupt engine production and negatively impact war readiness. The estimated total cost for this fixed quantity action is 120,442.00 dollars. Ametek Inc. is identified as the only qualified source for this effort because they are the original equipment manufacturer and possess proprietary technical data, engineering drawings, and specialized tooling required for the remanufacture process. Due to the complexity of the component and the lack of government access to the necessary data, reverse engineering is not feasible. The contracting officer will ensure the final negotiated price is fair and reasonable, utilizing DCMA and DCAA input if required.

If this contract is not processed as urgent the repair could be impacted by the OEM's plans to move their repair facility in the future which would require a recertification process of their new repair facility. B. A sole source follow-on requirement contract will be initiated if needed in the future for the remanufacture of the F118-100 Pyrometer. Currently OC-ALC does not have unlimited access to the technical data required to perform comprehensive remanufacturing of this item. Copies of the requirement information will be provided to any potential source who requests it. VII. DETERMINATION BY THE CONTRACTING OFFICER THAT THE ANTICIPATED COST TO THE GOVERNMENT WILL BE FAIR AND REASONABLE The Contracting Officer will insure that the item contemplated for acquisition is negotiated at a fair and reasonable cost to the Government.
