AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the procurement of two units of a specified item identified by NSN 7G-5985-016036416, intended for repair or modification purposes. The delivery terms are FOB origin, with the items to be issued to Norsat International American Inc. in Hamburg, New York. This acquisition is a sole-source procurement, meaning the government plans to negotiate directly with only one vendor due to the lack of government-owned data rights or economical alternatives for obtaining this part from other sources. The government has determined that purchasing the data or rights to the data or reverse engineering the part would be uneconomical, which justifies the single-source approach under FAR 6.302-1. While the notice is not a solicitation for competitive quotes, other interested parties may express their interest or submit capability statements or quotes, which the government may consider prior to award within a specified timeframe. The government emphasizes that any responses will be used primarily to assess whether competition should be pursued. Additionally, interested parties are advised on how to access relevant military and federal specifications and standards through official DoD document repositories, with instructions on obtaining documents either online or via mail. The contract action is managed by the Naval Supply Weapon Systems Support Mechanical office located in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and adheres to specific acquisition policies excluding the commercial items acquisition rules under FAR Part 12.
