K--MK53 NULKA LAUNCHING SYSTEM (Modification to Contract N00024-00-C-5484

The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) plans to award a sole source contract modification to Sechan Electronics, Inc. for the procurement of three additional MK53 Decoy Launching Systems (DLS). These systems are intended to meet expanded fiscal year 2004 requirements, with one system designated for the Coast Guard Program and two systems to fulfill the DDG51 program needs. Sechan Electronics is the incumbent contractor currently producing the MK53 (Nulka) Decoy Launching System under the existing contract through FY04. Due to the specialized and unique nature of the MK53 system and its components, Sechan Electronics is considered the only contractor capable of delivering the systems within the required timeframe. This contract modification ensures continuity in production and addresses the immediate need for increased quantities of the MK53 system. The sole source award reflects the criticality of timely delivery and the contractor's established expertise and experience with the complex technology involved in the Nulka Decoy Launching System.
