The Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Center’s Regional Contracting Office plans to award a firm-fixed-price sole source contract to MIC, Industries for the purchase of various machine parts and related repair services for the Ultimate Building Machine. The procurement, scheduled for award around March 20, 2013, includes a detailed list of 36 line items such as shear blades, guide bars, unseamer tool assemblies, bearings, lifting devices, and on-site technical service. MIC, Industries is identified as the sole manufacturer capable of fulfilling this requirement due to its intellectual property rights, making competition not feasible under the North American Industry Classification System code 333120, which pertains to machinery manufacturing. The intended contract period is brief, spanning from April 1 to April 5, 2013. The government is using Simplified Acquisition Procedures under FAR 13.501 and commercial item acquisition guidelines under FAR Part 12 to expedite the procurement. While the contract is sole source, the government invited any interested parties to respond within ten days from the notice publication date to demonstrate if competition might benefit future procurements. Responses must provide clear evidence for a competitive advantage, and all inquiries or concerns are to be addressed to the contracting officer before the close of the response period on March 19, 2013. No requests for quotes will be posted publicly, as this is a controlled sole source acquisition.
