The U.S. Navy is seeking to procure fixed-line Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) services to support naval operations in Sicily, Italy. This contract specifically calls for the provision of four bidirectional Post Telephone and Telegraph (PTT) trunks, either as E1PRI or their advanced technical equivalent, SIP VoIP trunks, facilitating inbound and outbound commercial telephone communications to Naval Air Station Sigonella. The service area includes multiple key sites such as Sigonella NAS 1 and NAS 2, Naval Radio Transmitter Facility NRTF Niscemi, Augusta NATO pier, and the Marinai housing complex. The Navy's telecommunication infrastructure between NAS 1 and NAS 2, which are about 20 kilometers apart and linked via Italian motorways, is primarily underground on Italian-owned property. The contractor must provide a backup network infrastructure to ensure continuity in the event of failures or emergencies. Support is also required for Navy microwave frequencies originating from NCTS locations, along with protected backup links for all circuitry connecting Sigonella, NRTF Niscemi, Augusta Bay pier, and the US Navy Public Safety Network (PSNet) and Emergency Land Mobile Radio (ELMR). The solicitation, issued by the Navsup Flc Sigonella Naples Office under NAICS code 517111, was posted in June 2026 with responses due later that month. The contract aims to guarantee reliable and secure telecommunications essential for Navy operations in the region.
