Fire Alarm engineering for Lewis County
Solicitation # 2026-RFQ-040
Lewis County is soliciting qualifications under solicitation 2026-RFQ-040 for a professional engineering firm to provide comprehensive design and engineering services for fire alarm systems. The project encompasses several County-owned facilities, including the IT Building, Historic Courthouse, Health Building, and Lewis County Jail. The selected firm will be responsible for conducting on-site evaluations to determine the remaining useful life of existing systems, assessing code compliance with NFPA 72, IBC, and IFC standards, and developing bid-ready construction drawings and technical specifications. All designs must be stamped by a licensed electrical engineer familiar with Washington State fire alarm requirements and must integrate smoothly with existing infrastructure to ensure standardized maintenance and operations. Proposals are due by November 10, 2026, via the OpenGov platform and will be evaluated by a committee of at least three County employees using a points-based system. The evaluation criteria are equally weighted at 20 percent each across four categories: firm qualifications (including NICET certifications and licensed engineer availability), responsiveness and capacity to begin work within 30 days, regulatory compliance and permitting records, and the clarity and detail of blueprint designs. Applicants must provide a statement of qualifications, three public agency references from the last five years, and resumes of key personnel. The contract is administered by Matt Patana, Capital Infrastructure Specialist, based in Chehalis, Washington.

The United States Air Force is conducting market research to identify qualified sources for engineering services to sustain the AAQ-13 LANTIRN Navigation Pod, including its subassemblies and Line Replaceable Units. The scope of work involves resolving system maintenance and parts obsolescence deficiencies, developing and reviewing engineering change proposals, performing sustainment studies, and providing technical services to improve system supportability. The selected contractor must provide all necessary materials, tools, and calibrated support equipment, ensuring that any replacement parts meet or exceed original quality standards. This effort is currently a Request for Information issued for planning purposes and does not constitute a formal solicitation or a promise of a future contract. The government has noted that it does not possess the technical data for these non-commercial items and identifies Lockheed Martin Integrated Systems as the current sole source contractor. Both large and small businesses are encouraged to submit capability documentation, though participation in this research does not guarantee future contract awards, and the government will not reimburse any costs associated with responding to the inquiry.
