Library Chiller Replacement Project

The Town of Hingham Public Library, a key community resource located at 66 Leavitt Street, requires urgent replacement of major components of its aging cooling system originally installed during a 2001 renovation. The total estimated contract value is approximately $1.4 million, with procurement and construction activities governed by Massachusetts General Laws (M.G.L. c. 149 §§44A-J) and prevailing wage requirements (M.G.L. c. 149 §§26-27H). Bidding for the Library Chiller Replacement Project is set to close on July 9, 2026, and is managed by the Town of Hingham’s Library department with key contacts including Director Linda Harper Stone and Procurement Manager David Sequeira. Contractors are required to comply with Massachusetts labor laws, including submission of weekly certified payroll reports and workforce participation documentation, ensuring minority and women workforce engagement in accordance with state goals. Additionally, owner-operators must certify their status while adhering to prevailing wage laws when employees are involved. This project underscores the town’s commitment to maintaining essential public infrastructure through adherence to regulatory standards, fiscal diligence, and community service priorities.
