The Library of Congress, through its Office of Contracts and Grants Management and the Space Utilization, Planning and Design division, required the upgrade and modernization of its signage program across the Capitol Hill Campus. The project focused on the fabrication and installation of wayfinding, room and floor identity, notifier, directories, life-safety, regulatory, and informational signs to improve operational compliance and the visitor experience. To maintain consistency in design, colors, and application, the Library mandated the use of the 2/90 Modular Standard Series, a design solution adopted in 2011 that is protected as intellectual property under the AIA Instruments of Service. Under solicitation number LCISS14Q0053, the Library of Congress sought a contractor capable of delivering these specialized products according to strict design specifications and budget constraints. Due to the proprietary nature of the existing system, the Library intended to issue the requirement as a sole source order to 2/90 Sign Systems. The project, titled LOC Signage and Wayfinding Phase 2, resulted in an award to 2/90 Sign Systems for a total amount of 139,833.30 dollars.
