The Training Services for NY State of Health Application Assistors and LocalDepartments of Social Services (LDSS) Project, Contract C034998, providestraining to enrollment assistors who offer assistance to individuals applying forhealth insurance coverage through NY State of Health, New York’s HealthInsurance Marketplace and for complex populations including aged, blind anddisabled consumers applying at a LDSS and to local Departments of SocialServices on a variety of topics related to Medicaid eligibility. These includetraining topics such as New Worker, Chronic Care and a host of technicalassistance sessions such as the Medicare Savings Program, trusts anddocumentation requirements.Due to various impacts of COVID-19 and the shift to virtual trainings for a largeportion of the contract term, the contractor underspent their annual budget foryears one through four of the contract. This will allow the Department the abilityto process this one-year extension with optional one-year renewal at no additional cost, which will avoid a gap in these critical services until the time a re-procurement can be finalized.
