Lower Guadalupe River Dead Tree Removal

Bid #VW0699: The project involves the removal of up to 206 standing dead trees along the Lower Guadalupe River between Montague Expressway and Hwy 101 in San Jose. The trees range from 4 to 100 inches DBH. Work includes developing a Tree Removal Strategy Plan, field tagging trees, manual felling with chainsaws leaving a 2-3 ft stump, and removing felled material from the riparian channel via hand carrying, winching, or crane. All material must be chipped and hauled off-site. The contractor must use ground protection, adhere to strict environmental BMPs for working in sensitive riparian habitats, and coordinate with agency biologists. Heavy equipment is restricted to upper maintenance roads.
