Full Description

A focus group meeting was conducted with the marina community to identify the needs and wants for the Marinas (and end users). One of the needs/wants identified for both of the marinas, was to have a stone border at the top of the bulkhead, between the bulkhead and turf areas. Installation of a stone border at the marinas would involve stripping and removing the existing sod and up to 3 inches (including the sod) of material from the proposed stone border area. Some of the material to be removed can be recycled/re-used on the site to fill in depressions along the bulkhead, the remaining material will need to be disposed of off-site. One of the challenges vendors will face is the mechanical systems underground which are multiple and shallow (water piping, electric conduits, mechanical tie back rods (part of the bulkhead structure). Use of heavy equipment in excavating/removing material and sod will need to be performed very carefully so as not to get into existing piping, and/or the tie back rods which are critical to the bulkhead system structure. Due to the underground utilities and the terrain, much of the soil removal will need to be performed manually .
