Full Description

The New York State Department of Health intends to contract with Island Peer Review Organization Inc (IPRO) for Maternal Mortality and Utilization Review (UR) for the term 4/1/2024 - 6/30/2025 A competitive procurement for this service was not feasible. Through this contract, IPRO will conduct medical record reviews and evaluations of services provided by hospitals licensed under Article 28 of Public Health Law and other Medicaid providers as required by the Department. This includes UR, i.e., admission and continued stay reviews, together with Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) validations, and quality of care reviews. IPRO is required to conduct quality improvement projects as directed by the Department such as validation of cases reported to the Department’s New York Patient Occurrence Reporting & Tracking System (NYPORTS), a statewide hospital incident tracking system. The Department’s OHIP will not be re-procuring any other reviews and services currently performed under this contract related to UR. This new single source will allow the Department to reimburse IPRO for past services rendered during this period.
