McLaughlin Eastshore State Park Albany Plateau Gamma Survey

The California Department of Parks and Recreation, through the Diablo Range District, is seeking a contractor to conduct sub-surface investigations at McLaughlin Eastshore State Park State Seashore in Alameda County. The primary objective of the project is to determine if historical waste disposal at the Albany Plateau poses a current risk to the environment or park visitors. This effort is categorized as a data collection and research project and is exempt from certain environmental disturbances under Class 6, Section 15306. The contractor will implement a phased, data-driven approach within a 35-acre investigation area. Key technical requirements include using the Orion Scan Plot system to map gamma activity, collecting up to twelve soil samples from the top six inches of soil or hand-excavated test pits, and gathering groundwater samples from at least three locations, including one hotspot and two perimeter samples.
