Category: Building and Facility Construction and Maintenance Services
Additional Instructions: This is a single Design-Build contract and will be procured through the Competitive Sealed Proposals process. This project extends approximately 2 miles along MD 249 (Piney Point Road) between Thomas Road and Stark Drive on Saint George Island in Saint Mary’s County, Maryland. The roadway is a low-lying minor collector with elevations ranging from approximately 2.0 to 4.7 feet above sea level across the four (4) project sites, making it highly susceptible to tidal inundation, wave action, and shoreline erosion due to its location between the Potomac and Saint Mary’s Rivers near the Chesapeake Bay. Projections indicate that by 2045, inundation could occur up to 226 times per year, increasing risks to roadway integrity, residential access, and emergency response.
