The Department of Health's Executive Office on Aging is soliciting proposals for the Medi-Medi Project, a pilot initiative aimed at supporting underserved populations in the Kalihi area who may qualify for low-income subsidy programs. These subsidies include Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Savings Programs, and Part D Extra Help, designed to alleviate healthcare expenses such as premiums, deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and late enrollment penalties. The project seeks to partner with a community-based organization that already serves the target population, focusing on building the necessary staffing, infrastructure, and operational capacity to effectively assist with subsidy information and Medicaid application completion and submission. The selected awardee will be responsible for conducting the pilot project, collecting and reporting comprehensive data including demographics, challenges, accomplishments, and best practices. This information is intended to demonstrate the program’s effectiveness and guide its transition to a permanently funded service to meet the increasing needs of Hawaii’s elderly population. The contract, identified by solicitation number ASO-26-187, requires timely submission of proposals by February 9, 2026, and is managed by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
